The Primrose Papers

The sequel to The Rose Journal . . . In The Primrose Papers, an old-fashioned mystery in a modern-day setting, Cassandra’s angel returns with an amazing and unique opportunity for her daughter, Annie. Annie, a young nurse employed at the New Bergen Nursing Home, struggles with her frustrations of caring for the elderly while fighting a personal battle with discouragement as she faces the possibility of a future without children of her own. When Annie is offered the chance to travel to England for two weeks as a companion to an older neighbor, she hesitates. Does she really want to spend so much time with cranky, obstinate Gertrude? Encouraged by her husband, Chad, and intrigued by her discovery of a mysterious note that hints at an unclaimed inheritance involving her ancestors in England, she accepts Gertrude’s invitation. Upon leaving her sheltered community in rural Minnesota, Annie is suddenly thrust into a situation of intrigue and danger in a luxurious manor home deep in the Cotswolds of England. Lady Charis, mistress of Primrose Manor, governs her home according to traditional manners and customs. There, Annie encounters additional members of the extraordinary family: Nigel, Lady Charis’s arrogant grandson; his retiring wife, Lady Fiona; and his intimidating sister, Lady Margaret. Back in New Bergen, we meet Emma, a young deaf woman who is struggling to overcome issues from her past. The story bounces back and forth from England to the Larson farm where Emma encounters unusual challenges when she is hired to be a housekeeper to Billy, who is blind, and his father, Sven. As Annie draws nearer to the resolution of the mysterious note, strange incidents lead her to fear that her life is in danger. In all these circumstances, will Annie and Emma trust God’s hand at work to bring hope to chaotic situations, and to reveal insight and truth into controversial issues that threaten the value and priorities of life?
